Tools That Work for The Solopreneur Life: Share and Follow

December 10th, 2010 by Larry Keltto | Posted in Social Media, Software

I turned to Share and Follow after it was pointed out to me that the “share” WordPress plugin I was using didn’t automatically shorten URLs when readers wanted to share my posts on Twitter. That’s not good.

My Web-site builder recommended Share and Follow, which is a free (donations accepted), feature-rich, easy-to-use WordPress plugin. Created by phat-reaction in Amsterdam, Share and Follow uses bit.ly for the shortening of URLs, allows for great control over the “share” presentation, including choice of icon, icon + text, or text only. I also appreciate “Twitter suffix,” which enables the auto adding of “via @twittername”.

Certainly there are a number of reasons to be active in social media, but building new business is often more important to freelancers than other social media benefits, like branding and customer service.

Build Relationships in the “Get Connected” Social Network

October 12th, 2010 by Larry Keltto | Posted in Marketing, Social Media

This is Launch Day for my multimedia, home-study course, “Relationship Marketing for Solopreneurs: A Path to Success for People Who Hate to Sell.”

And to mark the occasion, I am unveiling a powerful relationship-building tool: The Solopreneur Life’s “Get Connected” social network.

“Get Connected” functions much like Facebook—except that “Get Connected” is private and cannot be viewed by the public. Built on the Ning platform, “Get Connected” gives you the ability to:

• Take part in discussions on the forum
• Chat with other members
• Share video
• Share photos
• Announce upcoming events and product launches
• And even create your own blog

How To Fit Social-Media Marketing Into Your Schedule

July 23rd, 2010 by Larry Keltto | Posted in Marketing, Social Media, Software, Time Management

This is a guest post written by online marketing strategist Tommy Walker. We solopreneurs understand the value of social media for our businesses, but we’ve discovered that it can be incredibly time-consuming to do social media well. Tommy has some suggestions and solutions.

Do you ever look at other soloprenuers on social networks and wonder how the heck they accomplish all of the things they do?

If you follow some of the big names in online marketing on Twitter, one thing always seems to stand out: these people are constantly reading, publishing, networking and constantly finding ways to be useful. If you were to watch them in person, surely they would have five computer screens and four keyboards just to keep up with themselves.
